Orchestral Conducting at OSU

The master’s program in orchestral conducting at OSU prepares young conductors to analyze and interpret musical scores, use appropriate rehearsal techniques with various types of orchestras, and communicate musical interpretation through appropriate conducting gestures.  The degree takes two years to complete, and only one student is admitted into the program at a time.  In addition to taking courses in orchestral conducting, literature, performance, and pedagogy, the student will serve as the assistant conductor of the OSU Symphony, Chamber, and Opera Orchestras.  He/she will also assist with the OSU Youth Orchestra and the Stillwater Community Orchestra.
